Burchells Associate Roy Stewart has been selected as incoming Vice-Chair of the Aboriginal Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association’s Nova Scotia branch. The Aboriginal Law Section helps Aboriginal law practitioners throughout the province to stay informed on practice issues, important developments in case law and legislation, and other matters relevant to assisting Aboriginal peoples.
An Indigenous lawyer originally from New Brunswick, Roy worked with a variety of Aboriginal organizations prior to joining Burchells upon his call to the Nova Scotia bar in 2017. As Vice-Chair of CBANS’s Aboriginal Law Section, Roy will serve a two-year term, following which he will serve as Chair.
