Last week's national Canadian Bar Association Annual Aboriginal Law Conference, co-chaired by Burchells lawyer Derek Simon, was by all accounts a great success. The conference, hosted in Sydney, Nova Scotia, attracted more than 100 delegates from across the country.
The Burchells LLP-sponsored dinner at beautiful Fortress Louisbourg was a conference highlight. Dinner was served in Louisbourg's reconstructed village tavern by servers in period costume, topped-off with a rum tasting and the loud report of a fort cannon. Burchells' five delegates enjoyed reconnecting with aboriginal law practitioners from other regions and are already looking forward to the next one.
The conference concluded with a well-attended reception by the Canadian Bar Association's Nova Scotia branch, hosted by branch president and Burchells partner David Cameron.
