About Mackenzie
Mackenzie J. Jefferies is a member of our Indigenous Peoples and Environmental Law practice groups, focusing on environmental protection and stewardship, community and not-for-profit initiatives, and resource management.
He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law in 2023, where he also completed his undergraduate degree in 2019. During his time at UNB, Mackenzie co-chaired the Indigenous Law Students’ Association, participated in an international internship, and was actively engaged in various campus organizations, including the UNB Student Union. He also dedicated significant time to volunteering with community organizations.
Mackenzie’s professional experience includes summer positions with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General and a local Indigenous community organization. Following his graduation, he completed his articling term with Legal Aid in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Mackenzie is originally from Charlottetown in southern Labrador. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, exploring new coffee shops, and watching Survivor.
