Ashley is a Partner practicing in BWB’s litigation, administrative law, employment law, and Aboriginal law groups.

Ashley has been involved in a wide range of litigation matters, including Aboriginal rights litigation, and professional liability claims. Ashley has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, the New Brunswick Court of Appeal, Federal Court, and Nova Scotia Supreme Court. Ashley’s administrative law practice includes judicial review, human rights matters, and professional regulation matters. Ashley has appeared before various administrative tribunals, including the Nova Scotia Police Review Board and Human Rights Boards of Inquiry.  Ashley’s employment law practice includes advising both Indigenous and non-Indigenous employers and employees. She is also an active member of the firm’s workplace investigations team.

Ashley attended York University where she obtained honours degrees in English and Law & Society. Ashley obtained her Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2014. Ashley was voted one of 2023's Lexpert Leading Legal Practitioners in Aboriginal law across Canada, and in 2024, she was named as a Lexpert Rising Star: Leading Lawyers under 40.

Ashley is a proud member of a number of equity deserving groups, and is passionate about social justice issues – she currently serves as Chair of the Aboriginal Law section of the Canadian Bar Association – Nova Scotia, is co-chair of the firm’s Equity and Diversity Committee and has a significant pro bono practice. Ashley also serves with the Nova Scotia Barristers as a member of the Society Professional Standards (Law Office Management) Committee.

Outside of the office, you can find Ashley instructing a civil procedure workshop and co-instructing the Kawaskimhon Aboriginal Law moot at the Schulich School of Law, playing guitar, and raising her two children.
